In 2021, businesses have reasons to be cheerful ...

Happy New Year. While the year 2021 hasn’t started as we would all have wished with Coronavirus going into overdrive once again, and a full lockdown now in force, believe it or not, there are reasons to be cheerful.

At Business & Innovation Magazine there are three things we feel positive about:

The Oxford vaccine is being rolled out, making the UK the first country in the world to be able to deploy two vaccines.

The government managed to get a Brexit deal done, as we predicted it would – albeit at the 11th hour (we predicted that too). It’s not perfect, and there’s a lot left out, but the deal has been welcomed by representatives of all the UK’s major business support organisations as being better than no deal.

And Business & Innovation Magazine is returning to print this Spring. While we quadrupled the news content on our website from last March since becoming, temporarily, an online-only new source, (revealing the changing regional business landscape, what others are doing and where new opportunities lie), a printed magazine offers the opportunity to draw all that information together and put it a wider perspective.

And with so much changing, thanks in no small part to Brexit, it’s this broader perspective which will help companies make better decisions. No business operates in a vacuum, all of us are stimulated by the ideas, opportunities or announcements of others, and there is nowhere better to learn what other businesses are doing than on the Business & Innovation Magazine website and in our magazine.

As every business faces up to the inevitable challenges that the new Brexit business landscape, the new year, and the problems (or opportunities) that the Coronavirus continues to throw at us, knowledge is power.

Our revamped, quarterly Business & Innovation Magazine will sit alongside our hugely successful daily news website, offering more analysis, opinion and perspective than ever before.

Finally, we send our deepest sympathy to those who are battling Coronavirus, or who have lost loved ones. The rollout of the vaccines notwithstanding, we are not out of the water by any stretch of the imagination, so don't be a prat, please cover your face, give me space and don’t stint on the antibac...
