She subsequently became managing director of Vicon with complete P&L responsibility for its operations outside the Americas.
Roger Parry, non-executive chairman, said: "Although it is sad to see Nick go after so many years of excellent service, we congratulate him on his new appointment and wish him well in the role.
"Nick has been pivotal to the growth and development of our group for many years and has partnered with Imogen in many of the initiatives that have contributed most to our success.
He added: "Given her significant experience of our business, of the markets we operate in and the culture we cherish, the board is delighted to welcome Imogen to her new broader role at Oxford Metrics. We are very fortunate to have such a natural internal successor to take us forward as we continue to execute successfully against the five-year plan for growth."
Moorhouse added: "I'm delighted to take up the position as CEO of the group. We're on a mission to create a group focussed on expanding market opportunities by extending, enhancing and embedding what we already do best for over 10,000 customers worldwide.
"Oxford Metrics has been at the forefront and intersection between the digital and physical world since inception and with AI front of mind this is only going to get more exciting.
"We're making good progress in executing against our five-year plan, supported by buoyant demand across all market segments and I'm energised to lead our global team forward at this exciting time."
In order to ensure a smooth transition, Moorhouse will shadow Bolton over the coming months. In a statement, he said: "It has been an honour to lead Oxford Metrics over the last 18 years and to see smart sensing and analysis successfully deployed by our great team in so many amazing applications.
"Anyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about the opportunity for Oxford Metrics and I have every confidence in Imogen's ability and passion to lead this great team. She has played a central role in our firm's growth and strategic direction, and in delivering the strongest ever first-half performance just reported. I will be her loudest champion as she takes the business forward."
