HMT, based in Henley-on-Thames and led by partner Paul Read and manager Antonia Fernandez, has undertaken financial and tax due diligence for lower mid-market private equity firm Chiltern Capital LLP (Chiltern) on its investment in Thames Valley-based Vantage Finance (Vantage).

Established in 2004 and based in Gerrards Cross, Vantage Finance is a leading master broker offering property-lending solutions spanning commercial mortgages, bridging loans, development finance and secured loans on a national basis.

Chiltern Capital has taken a significant minority stake and will work closely with the team to build out the management structure and further develop the company’s sales and marketing function.

David Barral, the former CEO of Aviva’s life insurance business joins the board as chairman. He will work closely with the team as the business continues to develop its distribution channels and capabilities. Alex Sheffield and Tom Phipps from Chiltern have joined the board of Vantage Finance.

Funding to support the deal has been provided by the Royal Bank of Scotland’s corporate transactions team.
