The Phoenix Inn in Hartley Wintney has been named the best pub in Hampshire by Hampshire Life magazine at its food and drinks award gala dinner – held at The Elvetham hotel on November 26 – where the finalists battled it out to be crowned the winner.
Licensees Andrew and Sisi Ryder, who have been running The Phoenix since November 2009, were presented with their award along with Adrian Culver, head chef of The Phoenix Inn.
Judges praised The Phoenix for its consistent first-class delivery of fresh local food, excellent choice of wines and beers, and exceptional levels of customer service.
Andrew and Sisi were delighted to receive the recognition saying: “We are overjoyed to win Pub of the Year and absolutely delighted not just for us, but for the whole team. From Trudy who cleans in the morning to the kitchen porter who closes up at night, it’s everyone’s efforts that have earned us this accolade.
“Thank you to all our customers for supporting us and being there every day, and loving what we do.”
