Hampshire: Job hunters flock to Fleet, reveals CV-Library
Local business CV-Library, the UK's largest independent job board, today reveals that Fleet has seen a significant increase in applications to local vacancies. This increase shows a growing interest in Fleet, further establishing its position as one of the happiest places to the live and work in the UK.
Latest figures from the job site's database show that applications to local Fleet jobs have increased by an impressive 22% in July 2015 when compared with July 2014. What’s more, application rates in Fleet are growing more than twice as fast as those for the region as a whole – the South East saw a mere 10.3% increase in candidate applications over the same time, highlighting a growing interest in Fleet as a working location.
Despite the increased interest in the town, candidates are faced with lowering their salary expectations in exchange for their preferred working location. The average salary in Fleet has declined year-on-year and what’s even more concerning; today’s average salary in Fleet has slipped below the South East average of £32,977 to £29,178.
Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, explained: “I’ve always been passionate about keeping my business in Fleet and it’s exciting to see the town emerge as a desirable location for UK candidates.
"It’s clear that there is a wealth of talent in the region and responsibility falls on local businesses to provide an enjoyable working environment – with salaries lower than the regional average, local companies should look at other benefits they can offer employees to continue attracting candidates to the region."
