Hartpury University in Gloucestershire has been ranked first in the south west for 'teaching excellence and student support', according to the inaugural interactive university guide from the Daily Mail.

In the UK overall, the institution, which gained university status in 2018, ranked 2nd for student support and 4th for teaching excellence.

"We’re delighted to see such strong results in the Daily Mail University Guide 2024, particularly given our consistently high performance in areas around teaching and student support," said Professor Andy Collop, the vice-chancellor of Hartpury University.

"For us, it’s imperative that students investing in their future through higher education experience the highest quality teaching we can offer while also being supported at every stage of their journey.

"As always, I’d like to thank our team of staff who work so hard to ensure students learn in a dynamic, friendly and supportive environment as we prepare them for their future careers."

The Daily Mail’s new rankings were published in an online guide and as a free magazine in last weekend’s Mail on Sunday, which featured profiles of over 131 universities and a league table of 128 universities. The rankings were based on 12 key performance indicators.

In the Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, due to be released soon, Hartpury was ranked 6th in the UK for teaching quality and 1st in the South West for teaching quality in last September’s release.

According to the latest Graduate Outcomes 2023 survey, 97% of Hartpury University graduates are in employment, further study or other purposeful activity, placing it first in the South West and in the top 10% of UK universities for graduate employability.
