Gloucester City Homes (GCH) saw off six other shortlisted organisations to be named ' Employer of the Year' at a national industry awards ceremony held in Manchester.

It was part of the Housing Heroes/Women in housing awards held at the Chartered Institute of Housing’s conference, which celebrates leaders, innovators and changemakers in the sector.

Charlie Morefield, director of people, culture and communications at the independent housing association said: "We will continue to collaborate with our colleagues to ensure GCH is a great place to work, creating a culture of trust to deliver for our customers and empowering our people to realise their potential."

CEO at GCH Guy Stenson added: "We know that great people deliver great services. As a modern, agile, purpose led social business rooted in the community our 173 colleagues are our greatest assets and advocates.

"We are passionate about enabling each and every one to be the best version of their authentic selves, to thrive, to dream and to aspire. We celebrate our differences, learn from our mistakes and support each other to do the right thing."

Erin Tanswell, customer experience advisor, who attended the awards, said she had been inspired by the event.

"I haven't been in the industry very long and I feel like I’ve learnt so much from speaking with different professionals.

"The conference itself really gave me an insight into the future of housing and the issues we face. I was interesting to see that others face the same issues we do and to hear how they address these and what systems they have in place," she said.

This latest national plaudit bolsters GCH’s local recognition as the SoGlos ‘Best place to work in Gloucestershire 2022’ award.

Gloucester City Homes has deep roots in the City of Gloucester, going back over 100 years.
