According to the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (The FAC), the recent Farnborough Air Show - which took place between the 18th and 22nd of July - generated a substantial number of leads for UK businesses. Especially those in and around Hampshire.

The FAC serves as a trade organisation for hundreds of UK enterprises, primarily in the South and South East, but also across the country and internationally. Because it was the first show in four years owing to the Covid-19 pandemic and its associated lockdowns, there was a lot of pent-up trade, which resulted in an impressive number of international negotiations and agreements.

Their clients in the aerospace, aviation, defence and space industries, as well as their various supply chains, all showed a keen interest in the products and services too, according to an FAC press release. The FAC negotiated agreements with the Ohio Aerospace Institute in the United States and the Aviation Valley Cluster in Poland, as well as meeting with the King of Malaysia, no less.

Alan Fisher is the FAC's Chief Executive Officer. He had this to say about the event and its impact: “It’s been four long years since the last show and everyone was apprehensive about how it would go. But if our experience and those of our members is anything to go by then a huge number of leads were generated."

“Even if only a percentage of those turn into business, it will represent a huge boost for the economy. We were able to sign two deals ourselves, with similar organisations in Ohio in the US and in Poland. These organisations are based in their respective countries’ centres of aerospace – just like us."

“There is a lot of potential business to come from these agreements and we’ll be pushing hard on behalf of our members."
