Trade association The Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) said it expects increased investment in the sector in the south and south-east as it hosted an event, which bought dozens of members together.

People from the aerospace, aviation and defence sectors, as well as their supply chains, attended the hog roast at Farnborough’s Holiday Inn.

CEO of FAC Alan Fisher said: "It’s amazing what business can be generated over a bite to eat and a drink, when the atmosphere is relaxed.

"It was also good to be able to chat to our members to find out what they want from us and how we can help them.

"I am pleased to say that the outlook was extremely positive from those I spoke to and many are actively looking to expand their businesses and add to their workforces.

"We can expect increased investment in the aerospace sector in the south and south-east region, which is the home of the UK’s aerospace industry."

FAC has just made visits to Ohio in the USA and to France's capital city where millions of pounds worth of business was generated.

"Our recent trips to the US and Paris have been extremely successful and our wide and varied membership is benefitting from them," said Fisher.

The event was sponsored by Forrest Brown, the specialist innovation and tax advisers and more social events are being added to FAC’s calendar.

FAC has around 200 members nationally and internationally to serve its membership in the south and south-east of England, the heart of UK aerospace.

Through its unrivalled experience and expertise, the FAC acts as an enabler for business between large primes and the supply chain - especially SMEs.
