Farmstead building work has been completed

The community hub project based in Linmere Village known as the Farmstead has been completed.

The 650-acre Linmere site project consists of three buildings that are situated in a central courtyard with a nature-themed play area, outdoor seating area and bike storage. 

Local sources state that parts of the Farmstead will be open to visitors this month, including a new café, dog groomer and nature-inspired play park poised to open their doors.

Nigel Reid, the Linmere development director, commented: "Linmere's focus is on the great outdoors. 

“The Farmstead reflects this ethos, with everything from the rustic style of the architecture to the fact that the café serves locally grown food, to the services offered to our four-legged friends."

UK-based quantity surveyor Gardiner & Theobald LLP was in charge of managing the project alongside property and construction consultancy company Ingleton Wood. 

The design and building of the play equipment was carried out by Ashe, TouchWood Play and Davis White. These three companies are working collectively on the other elements of the development.

Business development director at Ashe, Andrew Morris, said: "Using sustainably sourced timber and offsite methods of construction we have ensured the most sustainable of buildings that fit with the aspirations of all parties involved. 

“We hope it plays a central part in building a caring and diverse community." 

The first building is a large community hall that will soon be available for hire by local groups for activities like yoga, societies and children's clubs.

The next building is composed of three smaller units that will become a dog parlour named Royal Dogs Grooming, an office space and a cafe running a bakery and selling local produce. 

The Farmstead is expected to easily reel in locals and visitors from the surrounding area as it has access from Junction 11A of the M1 and the A5-M1 link. 

Ingleton Wood director, Peter Webb, said: “Residents and local businesses will benefit from a range of high-quality community spaces for generations to come.”

The village is expected to accommodate more than 5,000 households and will also see the creation of another two ‘state of the art’ primary schools. 

The Farmstead’s official opening will take place in Spring.
