Fareham: TJ Waste achieves SafeContractor accreditation

TJ Waste has been awarded SafeContractor accreditation for the second year running after successfully passing the audit carried out by the awarding body, Alcumus SafeContractor.

The accreditation is valid for a year and can be renewed annually if the annual audit is passed.

Jack MacFarlane, head of compliance at the Fareham-based company, supplied various documentation, including insurance certificates, Health & Safety (H&S) policy documents, LOLER certificates, electrical safety certificates and risk assessments etc to demonstrate their suitability for the status. This included evidence of accident statistics and relevant employee H&S qualifications to prove the competence levels of employees. He also outlined TJ’s processes and procedures for H&S management, seeking competent H&S advice, employee training and visitor inductions across all TJ sites.

MacFarlane said: “The past 18 months have tested companies’ health and safety standards more than ever before, so the fact TJ has proved it is a ‘Safecontractor’ despite these additional challenges will give existing clients and potential new customers peace of mind about the exceptional services we provide.”

Holding SafeContractor status certifies that TJ Waste has the relevant health and safety paperwork in place to meet industry standards. Being accredited also opens up more business opportunities to TJ as some companies will only deal with those that hold the accreditation.

The company applied for the accreditation last year on the suggestion of one of its clients. Luke Haskell, general manager at TJ said: “We’re thrilled to have secured this status for another year; it really does demonstrate our commitment to health and safety best practice, which is always one of our top priorities.”
