Egnyte hosts lunch and learn event with built environment community
Egnyte hosted a lunch and learn event to discuss how technology is reshaping the built environment sector.
The event was held at the company's new 5th floor office space at The Pinnacle in central Reading.
Data security, sharing, collaboration and governance, especially relating to the recent Building Safety Act changes and the Golden Thread of information formed an interesting discussion.
Guests included experienced planners, surveyors, facilities managers, business owners, higher education construction sector leaders, business students and vital supply chain contractors.
Egnyte's lead, Pavlina Nikolova presented on the challenges of securely sharing and accessing sensitive data, particularly focused on the BSA following the Grenfell tragedy.
Pavlina outlined benefits of Egnyte's cloud solution allowing access to all data on any site, on any chosen device, enabling time and cost saving across all projects.
Co editing functions allow for quicker billing across the sector's disciplines, and the guests discussed implications of current challenges locating data for health and safety purposes.
The group welcomed Egnyte's Chief Revenue Officer Stan Hansen, visiting the UK office from the US, alongside Reece Rovig, Head of Global Sales, also from Egnyte in Salt Lake City.
Gilad Gam, VP Global Sales Engineering contributed his technical experience, adding user case experiences from Egnyte’s highly successful US construction customers.
Sales account executives Mike Almquist and Tom Fallon explained how Egnyte enables an enterprise to hold their data in one centralised repository, using permissions to secure sharing and limit data sprawl.
Stakeholders across the built environment are able to easily access relevant data efficiently, lowering risk and cost implications.
Egnyte’s Senior Workplace Manager Ali Bird showed guests the newly fitted hybrid office space and the view of the surrounding development and construction sites in central Reading, finishing with coffee at The Curious Lounge co working space on the first floor.
