An Eastleigh company has been honoured with two Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, one for Innovation and another for International Trade.

Kwikbolt is one of 220 organisations nationally to be recognised with a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise and one of four to be a double award winner. Kwikbolt has been recognised for its excellence in Innovation and International Trade.

Employing eight people, Kwikbolt was set up in 2011 to design and manufacture temporary fasteners for the aerospace and defence industry. It has become the market leader of innovation and technology within the sector and has captured the US market in recent years.

Christian Wenczka, commercial director, stated: "This award is recognition that the UK can inject innovation in a traditional market and go onto achieve high sales and growth via excellent engineering. From 3D metal printing to innovative designs the team worked hard to keep pushing to develop the best product in the world."

Jan Niklewicz, technical director, added: "Our business plan was always to find profitable problems to solve and solve these with patented technology and use a local engineering supply chain to bring this solution to life, so this is an industry award as well as a company award."

Now in its 54th year, the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are the most prestigious business awards in the country, with winning businesses able to use the esteemed Queen’s Awards emblem for the next five years.

Kwikbolt will celebrate its award during a royal reception for Queen’s Awards winners in the summer.
