Eastbourne benefits from £26m optic fibre broadband project
Eastbourne will soon become one of the world’s best digitally connected cities, according to CityFibre, who have almost completed their fibre optic broadband rollout across the town.
Homes and businesses in Hampden Park, Ratton, Old Town and Upperton areas now have access to top of the range digital fibre infrastructure. Works to connect the Seafront area are ongoing.
The East Sussex town has benefitted from CityFibre’s £4bn Gigabit City investment programme to enhance existing broadband infrastructure. In Eastbourne alone, CityFibre is investing £26m to make it one of the world’s best digitally connected communities.
Full fibre networks use 100% fibre optic cables to carry data at lightning speed from point of use to point of connection. This gives internet users consistently faster speeds for upload and download (up to 1,000 Mbps) and near limitless bandwidth while providing reliable connectivity
Full fibre broadband coverage of Eastbourne is expected to be completed by 2024.
CityFibre are the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform. Eastbourne broadband customers can now sign up to TalkTalk and Zen, with Vodafone, No One and Surf Fibre set to go live soon, while additional internet service providers are expected to join the network in the future.
