One of Dorset's longest-established cleaning companies has new owners. Cranes Cleaning Company, which began trading 20 years ago, has been acquired by Hertfordshire-based Servitek Support for an undisclosed sum.

The Corfe Mullen-based company employs around 20 people and provides cleaning services to a wide range of companies and organisations including business centres, doctors' surgeries, dental practices, accountancy firms and travel agents.

Poole-based chartered accountants and business advisers Princecroft Willis (PcW) handled the sale for owner Susan Morgan.

PcW partner Bill Law has looked after Cranes Cleaning Company's accounts since the firm was founded. PcW was also one of Crane's first clients.

Morgan said: "It's a very competitive sector and after 20 years of running the business the time was right for a change.

"Servitek, which is committed to green and ethical practices, was looking to expand into Dorset and I felt it was the right time to sell, especially as my husband had recently retired.

"Servitek was keen to retain the family connection so my daughter, April, is now managing the Dorset part of the business for them."

She added: "If I've learnt anything over the years it's the importance of having a good accountant. This was particularly useful during the sale as I had proper financial records going back for years.”
