Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) is looking to recruit five new professionals from the region’s private sector to join its board and to work with the public sector at local, regional and national levels.

Appointees will be expected to become members of, or chair, one or more of the LEP’s sub-groups or working parties such as the Skills and Employment Board, the Rural Enterprise Group or the Growing Places Fund Group.

Gordon Page, chairman, said: “Dorset LEP has challenging and ambitious plans to grow and transform Dorset’s diverse economy.  To achieve this, we need to further strengthen and broaden private sector representation on our board to ensure our collective expertise reflects all areas of industry and economic activity identified in our strategic economic plan."

James Weld, chair of the Rural Enterprise Group, added: “Being able to shape the future of your local economy is an incredible and rare opportunity. We have already secured over £100 million worth of funding for investment into Dorset.”

Candidates should have senior-level local business experience, and be able to represent the views and interests of private sector businesses for the benefit of Dorset’s business community.  Board membership is a voluntary, non-remunerated position although expenses are covered. Deadline for application is June 3.

The board is led by a private-sector chair and comprises nine private and four public sector representatives in addition to a representative from both the further and higher education sectors.
