Coventry University joins forces with Ukraine institution

Coventry University has joined forces with a university in Ukraine to look at sharing expertise, research and developing studies in the country.

The university plans to work alongside Alfred Nobel University in Dnipro after signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the institution that honours the legacy of the renowned inventor and founder of the Nobel Prizes.

This is part of the international Twinning Ukraine project which sees universities around the world supporting institutions in Ukraine and was set up in the wake of the Russian invasion of the country in February 2022.

Sir Ciarán Devane, Professor of International Policy and director of the Research Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations at Coventry University, said: “I am delighted that Coventry University is looking to join with another dynamic, innovative institution to share our expertise in public leadership with colleagues in Ukraine.

“The pressure on the people of Ukraine is enormous. By helping leaders in local governments across the country to develop their skill in strengthening their local economies through entrepreneurship, governance and economic development, we are proud to play one small part in supporting Ukraine to defend both itself and wider Europe."

Professor Sergii Kholod, Rector of Alfred Nobel University, said: “This collaboration aims to open new doors for our students and researchers, fostering innovative educational programs, joint scientific research and cross-cultural academic exchanges. We're eager to see the evolution of these initiatives and the positive impact they'll have on our community and beyond.”
