A young Redditch couple are turning their dream of a growing business into a reality, opening their first premises with help from commercial property agents John Truslove.

Lauren Rooney was inspired to start her sweets and events business after being left housebound for many months by a serious road crash five years ago.

Working with her partner, roofer Sam Bennett, the couple are now on the road to fresh growth after moving their venture, “Live, Laugh and Love With Lauren”, into a unit on the Manorside Industrial Estate in Redditch.

“It’s absolutely manic at the moment,” said Lauren, now 24.

“We are working weekdays at our sweet shop, handling online orders, and then putting together 10 or 15 parties every weekend with bouncy castles, football dart games and other entertainments, as well as supplying more sweets as gifts and party favours.

“The events side of the business has exploded since lockdown started easing, but the sweets side of the business kept us going over the last year, delivering them to more than 100 homes a week around Bromsgrove and Redditch.

“Sam had built an extension on our house to cater for the business but it had outgrown that space. We realised we needed proper business premises and got in touch with Ben Truslove, at John Truslove.

“Ben was really helpful and he understood what we needed as a new business. We thought the unit might be a bit big but just a month after moving in we are using all the space. It’s absolutely perfect for us.”

Ben Truslove, joint managing director at John Truslove, negotiated a five year lease on the 1,118 sq ft factory warehouse unit at 11 Walkers Road on behalf of landlords Euro Property Investments.

Ben said: “This is a young couple working hard with an imaginative and successful business that needed space to grow.

“Manorside is part of the North Moons Moat industrial area providing a wide range of premises and is extremely popular with businesses. This unit provides an ideal base for Lauren and Sam to take their business to the next level and, in turn, enable us to secure an excellent tenant with great long-term prospects for our landlord client.

“This couple are a great example of the entrepreneurial spirit being exhibited by so many young business people as we come out of lockdown. We look forward to seeing their success continue.”

“We’ve turned our dream of our own successful business into a reality,” said Lauren.

Using a website - https://livelaughlovewithlauren-sweets.co.uk/ - Facebook site and Instagram to spread the word, the couple are now booking events up for the summer as business flourishes.
