In order to modernise its operations and help it achieve its aim of being a net-zero aviation hub, Heathrow Airport has signed a special deal with Maidenhead construction experts Costain.
As a delivery partner, Costain will collaborate with the airport on building and asset renewal projects purchased under the H7 framework's Terminal Asset Renewal Partner and Major Project Partner lots.
Costain received its first commission as a contractor in the design stage of the renovation of the baggage handling equipment and systems at Terminal 2.
The scope of the work will involve the completion of several significant projects, as well as improvements to Terminal 2 and other infrastructure.
Heathrow's Chief Solutions Officer Helen Elsby said this about the partnership: “We have bold plans to improve Heathrow over the next four years, making sure journeys are smooth, safe and reliable.”
Sue Kershaw is Costain's Transportation Managing Director. She said this about the link-up: “I am delighted that our construction, consulting, and digital experts have been selected to help Heathrow transform its performance."
“Our integrated team will work closely with Heathrow to address the challenges of rebounding from Covid, transforming to a net-zero airport, and attracting new customers and airlines to give passengers a world-class airport experience.”
