CityFibre says it has now laid 115km of full fibre internet beneath the streets of Cheltenham as part of its £30 million plan to improve the city’s digital connectivity.

This progress from the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform now means there is enough full fibre connecting the town’s homes to run the equivalent of The Gold Cup course at Cheltenham Racecourse 24 times.

Neil Madle, CityFibre’s Partnership Manager for Cheltenham, said: “Residents and businesses in Cheltenham will be able to access the fastest and most reliable connection in the not-so-distant future, as our rollout continues.

“We appreciate that digital infrastructure investment of this scale can be disruptive for residents, and would like to thank everyone for their support and patience to date. We can’t wait to see how this state-of-the-art network will benefit the local area in terms of productivity, innovation and new investment in the years ahead.”

Cheltenham is one of a growing number of locations in the UK to benefit from CityFibre’s nationwide full fibre rollout, which will bring improved broadband infrastructure within reach of up to eight million UK homes and businesses.

Locally, the rollout is being completed by CityFibre’s build partner, Kier Utilities, which currently has teams working in The Reddings, Benhall, Kingsditch, Swindon Village, Wymans Brook, St Peter's, St Paul's, Pittvile and Marle Hill areas.

Large sections of the town have also been completed, including Alstone, Rowanfield, St Mark's, Fiddlers Green, Springbank and Hesters Way, with more to follow shortly.
