Cirencester restaurant Tierra and Mar has been named as the best place to eat in the south west at the 2022 Food Awards.

Thousands of restaurants were considered for the accolades with a spokesperson for the awards saying: “These awards aim to thank those that work hard within the city’s food industry and contribute to making England a great gastronomic place to visit.”

This is the second award this year for this small family run restaurant, who received two AA Rosettes earlier this year.

Located on the towns Sheep Street, Tierra and Mar is run by husband-and-wife team, head chef, Brett Russell, 32 and front of house manager, Silvia Perez-Alcazar,33.

Other main roles are filled by bar manager Luis Paladines while Brett works alongside sous chef Tamás Kvascsuk.

Brett said. “We were runners up last year so this shows we are moving in the right direction. I have some more plans for the restaurant this year with the addition of a bar menu.”

Brett is no stranger to awards and top end kitchens, before setting up with his wife Silvia he worked at Michelin recognised venues in England and Australia as well as Restaurante Riff in Valencia, which is one star and Es racò D'es Teix in Mallorca, once again another one-star super restaurant.
