Cat Butler service launches in Oxford

When Oxford cat owners go away they needn't to worry about their feline friend for a day thanks to a new cat butler service.

Mark Mentiply (pictured above with his cat Becky), who lives with his partner Nicola Williams in Farmoor, has given up full-time employment to pursue his love of cats by opening his premium cat care business, The Cat Butler Oxford.

The company’s vetted staff, who are fully insured and trained in pet first aid, will visit cats in their homes to provide all the care and company they need.

Mark, who also works for local mental health charities Restore and Oxfordshire Recovery College, said: “I could not be more excited to start running my own business, bringing a truly premium cat visiting service to owners in and around Oxford.

“I have one cat of my own, Becky, a 15yr old domestic short-haired tabby who is indulged, as most cats are, by me, her own personal butler, so I know how important tummy tickles and chin rubs are.”

As well as feeding and socialising with the felines, The Cat Butler will care for their owners' homes by checking for signs of a disturbance, putting out the bins and watering houseplants. Owners will also receive a weekly video to reassure them of their cat’s wellbeing.

Mark added: “The difference between The Cat Butler and other cat care services is the extreme lengths we go to, to make sure both the cat and the house are in great shape.

“If we notice anything amiss in the house or with the pet, we’ll immediately contact the owner to seek further advice. We see ourselves as part cat visiting service, part light touch security.”

Mark decided to start The Cat Butler Oxford after being made redundant from his Customer Service role with British Gas. As we enter the summer months and people head off abroad, he sees now as the perfect time to launch his new service.

He added: “We anticipate a large demand for our services as we head towards the summer holidays and would urge cat owners to get in touch sooner rather than later.

“Our service will appeal to those who truly want the very best for their cats; people who like to receive updates showing their cat looking happy and healthy and knowing that someone is casting a cursory eye around the property once or twice a day. We’re looking forward to meeting many new cats and their owners over the next few weeks.”
