Pinewood Studios, a Buckinghamshire-based film studio, has launched ‘Behind the Screen’, a trainee programme that was set up following the success of the Government Kickstart Scheme in 2021.

The ‘Behind the Screen’ programme is aimed at people who are currently unemployed and looking to make their first steps in both the television and film industries. ‘Behind the Screen’ will involve on-the-job learning and will connect successful applicants to strong television and film industry support bases whilst also providing valuable industry experience.

These placements will last for six months and will involve applicants shifting between the studio’s TV, post production, health and safety, and operations departments.

Director of human resources for the Pinewood Group Ruth Moss said: “Helping people to develop their careers is an important priority at Pinewood and the launch of our own ‘Behind the Screen’ trainee programme demonstrates our commitment to encouraging new entrants to our industry. We are committed to ensuring the success for those who join our programme and look forward to welcoming them to the Studios.’’

The Pinewood Group have employed four people in the first round of applications. The trainee programme has been advertised and candidates were selected in partnership with the Jobcentre Plus.
