Bracknell Town FC seek planning permission for new residential development
A controversial housing development at the former home of Bracknell Town FC on Larges Lane is set to get green lit this week.
Despite objections to the housing development, The Business Magazine understands that Bracknell Forest Council’s Planning Committee are to give it their approval this Thursday, March 24.
Objectors had raised concerns the development would turn the area into a concrete jungle, increase traffic to unmanageable levels and had written of their concerns about the density of residential properties and over development of Larges Lane.
If planning is granted, the development will contain 120 new homes built where Bracknell Town Football Club stadium has stood since the 1930s. The club has outgrown those outdated facilities and applied for permission to demolish and build apartment blocks.
Planning permission has already been secured by the club for new grounds at Bottom Meadow, Sandhurst.
The Larges Lane construction project makes provision for 17 one-bed, 94 two-bed and 15 three-bedroom apartments in three detached blocks.
A planning officer’s report submitted to council recommends granting approval: "Planning permission is sought for the erection of 126 residential apartments.
"The development would be at an appropriate scale for this site and would provide a high-quality design solution with sufficient legibility to navigate the site easily.
"The proposal is considered to strike an appropriate balance between creating a distinctive and attractive sense of place while delivering a significant amount of sustainable housing and making an efficient use of urban land."
