Bracknell-based Sourcefire has taken the title of Best Global Security Company at the highly-acclaimed SC Awards Europe.

Now entering its third decade, the event offers awards universally recognised as the most coveted and prestigious prizes in the European information security industry.

The competition this year was fierce, with more than 320 entries received for the 25 awards, and the judges agreed that Sourcefire deserved the Best Global Security Company title because it has a “good track record” and is a “strong company with clearly market-leading products”.

One judge also added: “Great technical security solutions leave Sourcefire at the cutting edge of information risk control. Dynamic and inventive, this firm is a well-respected leader in its field.”

Dennis Wilkins, Sourcefire’s regional director for Northern Europe, said, “We are thrilled to have received this award. The threat landscape has changed considerably in recent years and when it comes to the challenge of defending networks from advanced malware, organisations need to deploy a threat-centric model of security that addresses the full attack continuum and responds any time, all the time. Sourcefire addresses the entire threat cycle – before, during and after an attack. Winning this award is a fantastic accolade and testament to the dedication of the Sourcefire team.”

Sourcefire’s FireAMPsolution, which provides host-based advanced malware protection for endpoints, mobile devices and virtual networks, also received a highly commended in the Best Anti-Malware Solution category.
