Bike manufacturer raises more than £1m to begin European expansion
A Bristol bicycle designer and manufacturer, which produces sustainable bicycles and electric bicycles in the UK, has raised more than £1 million on Crowdcube to begin expansion into Europe.
Matt Mears started Temple after spending his university years repairing vintage bikes from the 60’s to the 80’s. He grew to love their dependable and elegant designs, and so, in 2014, he saw the potential in creating something from scratch, and went about designing the perfect bike. He combined what he loved about vintage bikes with the advances in materials, manufacturing and technology that have since filtered into the bike world.
Since the company raised £200k in 2017 it has increased revenues to £1.94 million, increased production capacity by moving into a 14,000 sqft facility in Bristol, gained 15,000 customers worldwide, exporting 16 per cent of bikes made.
