Biggest independent accountancy firm in Sussex created as Cardens and Galloways merge
The biggest independent accountancy in East Sussex is now a reality thanks to the recently announced merger of Galloways Accounting and Cardens Accountants.
This November, Galloways Accounting finalised the acquisition of Cardens Accountants, creating an overall team of more than 200 finance and business experts. Along with its offices in Brighton, Haywards Heath, Horsham and Uckfield, Galloways Accounting Group also has premises in Hove and Worthing, expanding its coverage throughout the whole Sussex region.
Both businesses will keep using a similar strategy for providing client services, investing heavily in digital cloud accounting capabilities along with more conventional, one-on-one customer interactions.
Barry Carden launched Cardens Accountants in 2006. It has now expanded from a staff of ten to over 60 local financial experts. Barry has agreed to take on the role of managing partner of Galloways Accounting following the first merger agreement in May 2022.
Galloways CFO Iain Campbell said this about the merger: “Cardens has been a firm very much on our radar since the initial investment by Cow Corner in 2018 and we are delighted that they have joined the herd. Galloways are keen to continue to expand whilst maintaining a high level of client satisfaction and we believe Barry, his partners and team can help us to ensure this growth continues.”
Barry Carden added: “My partners and I felt we were at the right time in our growth cycle to combine forces with another firm, as our clients’ needs for specialists in the areas of audit and tax grows as the business world evolves, personally I am delighted to have accepted the role of managing partner to bring my skills honed over the years to bear in the enlarged practice.”
