Bracknell Forest has attracted a new Chinese company to the borough. UKEC International, an organisation from China which engages and supports Chinese students within the UK higher education and university sector, set up its office in Bracknell town centre on September 7.

UKEC International will provide exchange opportunities for students and local businesses, building strong links with provinces in China. It will also help to promote Bracknell Forest as a preferred investment destination with Chinese companies, through links with schools in Berkshire.

The new office, based at Regus in Arlington Square, will initially create five new jobs although this may expand as the concept gains further momentum. The relocation to Bracknell is fantastic news for the borough and comes as a result of the council’s hard work putting Bracknell Forest firmly on the map for Chinese businesses. The council is a strategic partner in Link to China, an organisation aimed at promoting business links with the country.

Bracknell Forest Council’s executive member for economic development and regeneration, councillor Marc Brunel-Walker, said: “Bracknell is continuing to go from strength to strength as a place for international companies. The borough is already home to a number of globally-recognised names and the arrival of UKEC International is a most welcome addition to the recent announcements and relocations including Snow Software, Kronos and Hitachi.

“Our determination to stimulate Chinese inward investment is starting to come to fruition. The arrival of UKEC International is a huge boost for the local economy and a testament to the hard work being undertaken by the council and its partners.

“It will strengthen the large pool of talented and skilled workforce we already have in the area and shows we have taken yet another step forward in making the borough one of the most business-friendly areas for new and existing companies.”
