BDB Pitmans acts on sale of sustainable power generation company Hybrid Power Hire Limited
Law firm BDB Pitmans has acted for Rugby-based green portable power generation company, Hybrid Power Hire Limited (HPH), on its sale to Sunbelt Rentals for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition of HPH is part of Sunbelt’s investment strategy to increase its energy solutions offering. Over the last year Sunbelt has invested more than £100 million into new greener rental products and services including Stage V plant and machinery, battery and solar lighting, battery tools and electric plant and machinery, with the acquisition representing a key step in the organisation’s ongoing growth. The deal will enable Sunbelt to boost its existing rental fleet of large-scale battery storage units (20kva to 60kva) to over 750 units, making them a market-leader in the sector.
Based in Rugby, Warwickshire, HPH is a hybrid power rental firm, providing efficient energy storage solutions to the construction, telecoms, rail, EV, and agricultural sectors. HPH’s 300 green storage units are designed with sustainability targets in mind, helping users to harness power from renewable energy sources such as wind and solar with the aim of reducing fuel consumption, lowering CO2 emissions and limiting noise pollution.
Founded in 1947 and headquartered in Warrington, Sunbelt are part of the FTSE100 Ashtead Group plc and a global leader in equipment rental. As a result of cost of living pressures post-pandemic, the flexibility of renting equipment has increased greatly in appeal, with greener power solutions in particular demand.
BDO Pitman's John Hutchinson said: "As the result of increasing fuel costs, calls for greater transparency around carbon emission levels and the removal of diesel tax relief, demand for clean energy products, solutions, and services is higher than ever. The transaction was the latest for us in a succession of sustainable energy matters and we are confident that HPH’s acquisition by Sunbelt will bring together two innovative suppliers to the benefit of customers everywhere."
