Luxonic, the UK’s foremost designer of lighting solutions, has welcomed its first female director to the board, promoting Tina Batsford to financial director.

Having joined in 1992 as an accounts assistant, Batsford has seen the company expand from less than 40 employees to a thriving workforce of over 160 in 2017. After assuming responsibility for finance and HR teams as financial controller in 2013, the recent promotion to financial director means she now sits as the first female member on Luxonic’s board.

Nick Tavaré, managing director at Luxonic, praised Batsford’s commitment to the company: “This promotion is a landmark moment for both Tina and Luxonic, as we recognise her enormous contributions in what is typically viewed as a male-dominated industry. For 25 years, Tina has been a supportive and vital presence at Luxonic, and the board is honoured to welcome her to the top table. It’s no coincidence that companies that have women at board level perform better, and we are proud to now be among them.”

He continued: “In our 31-year history, Luxonic has grown to become a British leader in manufacturing and sustainability, and our dedicated staff are the foundations of this success. We’re fortunate to enjoy really strong staff retention at Luxonic, with numerous employees with us for 10, 20, 25 years and more; it’s something that sets us apart as a great place to work.”

Batsford, who also has experience working in production for the award-winning lighting manufacturer, commented: “My journey to the board, from the accounts department up to financial director, is a true reflection of Luxonic’s culture of professional development, and I would like to thank Nick in particular for his support over the years.”

Over the past year, Luxonic has completed work for a variety of well-known businesses. Manufacturing every product from its base in Basingstoke and with offices in Manchester, Glasgow and London, Luxonic has recently supplied energy efficient systems to organisations including The Hut Group, Poundland and Dublin Airport.
