Barnwood records turnover of over £84 million

Gloucester based Barnwood Construction has reported a turnover of £84.6 million. The company, now in its 56th year, is responsible for the construction of some of the region’s highest profile commercial buildings.

These include the second St James's Place HQ building in Cirencester to the stunning innovation centre at global manufacturer Renishaw’s Wotton-under-Edge headquarters and the recently completed £13 million Schrödinger Building, the  largest speculative Grade A office building to be developed on The Oxford Science Park.

Barnwood Group includes Barnwood Construction, Barnwood Shopfitting and Barnwood General Works and employs 240 people in total.

Barnwood is currently constructing Gloucestershire College’s new Forest of Dean campus at Cinderford’s Northern Quarter; phase one of the regeneration of Bakers Quay next to Gloucester Quays, where the company is working on a mixed-used project, including 47 flats, hotel and retail premises at Baker’s Quay for developers Rokeby Merchant. and Gateway 12 Business Park at Waterwells, Quedgeley. In Cheltenham, the company is building another Grade A office space on a prime site for Formal Investments. Honeybourne Place will go to the market later this year.

It also works on industrial buildings, such as the units Barnwood is building for St Modwen at Quedgeley in Gloucester and Avonmouth. It also works with other developers including Robert Hitchins and Ashville.

Barnwood’s Shopfitting division is also having a particularly busy year and is responsible for a third of Barnwood Group’s total business. Barnwood Shopfitting is involved in the transformation of Nationwide Building Society’s branches and is also working with leading high street names such as H&M, WHSmith, JD Sports and Debenhams.

Barnwood Group’s managing director Simon Carey said the development of skilled staff and an enviable record for retaining personnel long term were key to Barnwood’s success.
