Aylesbury: Alcumus appoints former rugby international Rory Underwood as development director
Alcumus, the market-leading provider of technology-enabled compliance risk management and certification services, has appointed Rory Underwood, the former British Lion and England rugby international to the position of development director.
Underwood, who was capped 85 times by England and scored 49 tries for his country, has also spent more than 18 years in the RAF as both a jet pilot and a human factors trainer. In this role, he was responsible for quality and risk management initiatives, including crew resources.
Underwood will work closely with CEO Martin Smith and will focus his attention initially on supporting Alcumus risk management growth strategies in the property, construction, retail and manufacturing sectors.
Smith said: “In his role as development director, Rory will facilitate senior level introductions, and work with our sales director, Grant Strelling, to build on the success Alcumus has achieved in these core sectors.
“In addition, Rory, via his consultancy company Wingman, will explore board level risk management and behavioural safety leadership opportunities with Alcumus and support the growth of this service offering to our key clients.”
Alcumus, which has its head office in Midshires Business Park, Aylesbury, works with UK and international clients to manage their exposure to risk, comply with the latest legislation, improve business performance and encourage workforce engagement. Its clients include Morgan Sindall, Transport for London, Laing O’Rourke, Subsea7, John Lewis Partnership, Sodexo, Dolce & Gabbana, Compass Group and Sainsbury’s.
Underwood said: “I am delighted to be joining the Alcumus team and look forward to supporting the company’s risk management, compliance and certification service growth.”
