The global aerospace and defence firm Nammo has signed up to take on a new building at Buckinghamshire's Westcott Venture Park.

The move will see the Norwegian HQ'd company enhance their UK propulsion facilities and gain a further 18,000+ square feet of production and manufacturing space at the park.

Westcott Venture Park is already known for being an integral part of the British space sector, hosting more than a few well-established businesses that support satellite and rocket-enabled R&D projects.

The park is currently home to 88 companies, including the National Space Propulsion Test Facility (managed by Nammo on behalf of the UK Space Agency) and the Westcott Space Cluster.

Westcott's Development Manager Nigel MacKenzie said this about the deal: “Nammo sits at the heart of our Westcott propulsion family, so we are delighted to be able to accommodate its ongoing growth by providing move on space. Our job is to support these innovative companies throughout their lifecycle, providing them with a secure and sustainable environment to grow and develop their business operations.”

Nammo make rocket engines and motors for civilian and military clients, supplying the likes of Airbus and NASA.

Adam Watts, Nammo's Business and Strategic Development Manager, is pleased about the move, saying: “The capabilities that the National Space Propulsion Test Facility brings to the UK space industry are already having a positive impact upon business levels and our ability to win projects that would otherwise have gone elsewhere."

"Many of the major players in America are now buying rocket engines from us so the business is growing rapidly. We work with other space and rocketry companies across the Westcott site and it’s great to see more companies moving to the park, further enhancing the community of space cluster companies.”

The deal further establishes WVP, found 8 miles west of Aylesbury, as the hub of British space propulsion research, development and manufacturing.

Richard Harrington, the CEO of the Buckinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership, had this to say about it: “We are delighted with the expansion of Nammo within the Westcott Enterprise Zone. This expansion reinforces the position of the Westcott site as a globally leading centre of excellence in space propulsion in the heart of Buckinghamshire and one which is increasingly attracting new business and investment.”
