'Access to Finance’ is the subject of an event to be hosted for SMEs and their advisers on April 2 at Milton Park in Abingdon. This is the first in a series of networking presentations to be hosted by Gener8 Finance in partnership with Milton Park, with the idea of bringing together local, like-minded business people to share experiences and expand networking opportunities.

Three experienced speakers will each give brief overviews of potential alternative finance solutions that are currently in the market and available to UK businesses.

The first of these is Paul Stokes of Partner Commercial Finance whose expertise includes all aspects of commercial banking, asset-based lending and the relatively new Peer to Peer Loan platform. Stokes honed his 18-years’ experience at major banks including their asset-based lending arms, and his indepth understanding of the commercial finance landscape and the challenges owner managers face, gives him an unrivalled perspective.

Richard Cooper of TVIN will also be sharing his expertise. Having joined Oxford Innovation in 2013 specifically to work with micro, small and medium businesses in the South East as a specialist in access to finance for Growth Accelerator, he built a start-up software company and with rapid growth the company ultimately needed finance which led to an initial exposure to the capital raising process. He then took his career to the other side of the world where he spent seven years in Australia, helping companies to be investor ready and then building a business angel group called SA Angels.

Gary Ambrosini of Midas Corporate Finance is the third of the presenters. He has been sourcing asset finance for business and private individuals for over 30 years. With experience in senior positions in major banks, he has spent the past 16 years developing his own finance consultancy and brokerage. He has been arranging funding for a vast range of assets, from vans to prestige sports cars through to engineering and printing equipment – for companies of all sizes and from sole traders to PLCs.

The event takes place at The Innovation Centre, 99 Milton Park, Abingdon OX14 4RY. Breakfast will be served from 7.30am and there will be ample opportunity to network before and after the presentations, which commence around 8am.
