Vital funding has been given to two companies in Oxfordshire which are working towards greener transport solutions.

Shares of the overall £1.8m kitty made available by the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK's Technology Developer Accelerator Programme have been awarded to Bicester-based Transense Technologies and Thame's About:Energy.

The funding has been awarded in the hope that both firms can make discoveries which lead to reduced carbon emissions from transport. Each will receive £135,000. 11 other businesses in the UK were also given that same amount.

Josh Denne, APC’s Head of SME programmes, says this about the scheme: “Applications for this cohort of our SME accelerator programme have been the highest we have ever received. This reflects the opportunity within the automotive sector and the appetite for this type of support.”

Gavin White, CEO of About:Energy, is obviously pleased, saying: “The training and funding made available by the APC will enable About:Energy to unlock our high-impact battery technology, for which we are extremely grateful.”

Director of Transense Ryan Maughan, had this to say: “The TDAP project will allow Transense to accelerate development of its sensor technology in the automotive sector. Which is an exciting and rapidly growing market."
