Dubbed the UK’s Silicon Valley, the Thames Valley contributes roughly £10 billion to the British tech economy.

This exciting sector of business is defined by innovation and creativity, and within it are a plethora of companies of all sizes. From tech giants that have made a global name for themselves to healthtech startups looking to grow and change the world, the Thames Valley is riddled with businesses worthy of recognition.

Before we present a particularly impressive business with the Innovative Tech Company of the Year Award on the 13th of July, we’ve put together a list of 10 of the most prevalent innovative tech companies in the Thames Valley:

Westcoast

Renowned for its relentless pursuit for excellence and a strong commitment to quality and flexibility, Westcoast is the number one UK distributor to an enormous range of clients. It distributes some of the most known global IT brands to resellers, retailers and other organisations – a feat that has earned it great recognition in the past, with Westcoast ranking in at number one on The Business Magazine’s TV250 Listing.

IRIS Software Group

Having evolved over the last 45 years to now serve more than 100,000 customers on a global scale, IRIS Software Group is on a mission to be the most trusted provider of mission critical software to its customers. With Rebellion Film and TV Studios, Rebellion Publishing, Rebellion Unplugged and Audiomation Studios all under its belt, the company is rapidly growing to become a Thames Valley tech giant with a very exciting future.

Bimble

Fondly nicknamed the ‘Spotify of travel’, Bimble is ‘the app for great little places’. Providing those who use the app with photos, maps, notes and directions surrounding fellow user’s favourite places, Bimble is providing a unique service while promoting travel throughout the UK and beyond. Having made strides in innovations in AI, precision medicine and diagnosing life threatening diseases, its expert team of medical and business professionals has the necessary insight and experience to confidently serve the world’s most demanding clinical communities.

Criterion

Guildford-based Criterion is an award-winning Electronic Arts studio whose story began back in the mid 1990s. Recognised as one of the best places to work in the UK, it has a strong legacy of creating industry-leading, visceral gaming experiences with a particular expertise in racing content. Having worked with some of the largest names in gaming and on some of the largest titles, Criterion has cemented itself as a key player in the Thames Valley’s tech sector.

Priding itself on being ‘the fastest growing business consulting and software solution provider for small, medium and large businesses’, Invenio Business Solutions implements simple yet powerful solutions to meet its clients’ specific needs. The business relies on its highly skilled and experienced team of professionals to offer the most effective and cost-effective solutions possible.

Supermassive Games

A BAFTA-winning game studio, Supermassive Games provides a number of unique, story-driven, skilfully crafted interactive gaming experiences. With a self-described ‘passion to deliver high-end interactive drama’, the studio is also known for its generous work to support many charities and was fully acquired by Nordisk Games in 2022. At this time, the business has 17 awards to its name, and continues to release innovate and exciting titles.

Microsoft

Headquartered in Reading, global tech titan Microsoft is perhaps the most recognisable technology company in the Thames Valley. With a mission to empower every person and every organisation on the planet to achieve more, the business is constantly creating new ways to accelerate innovation, achieve agility and build the future.

There may be 8,000 technology-led companies based in the Thames Valley, but only one of them can win the Innovative Tech Company of the Year Award at this year’s Thames Valley Tech Awards

Sponsored by Blake Morgan, this award will be presented to a company that developed or produced an outstanding tech innovation (or series of innovations) in 2022.

Judges will consider the success of the innovation (either product, system or service) and its impact on consumers, clients, or the general business environment.

The Thames Valley Tech Awards is taking place on the 13th of July 2023 at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, and will be a black-tie gala event and awards ceremony.

Thank you again to Blake Morgan for sponsoring the Innovative Tech Company of the Year Award.
