Wood pellet production doubles at Gloucestershire business
A new wood pellet production line press is being installed in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire. The equipment is set to double the company's current wood pellet production levels.
SDL Solutions has started work for the installation of a high-capacity wood pellet production line and press at its facility in the Cotswolds. Manufactured by Rudnick and Enners, the new line will mirror the SDL Pellets existing line, effectively doubling production capacity to enable production of more than 60,000 tons of En Plus A1 wood pellets annually. Construction of the pellet line and press is expected to be operational by July 2024.
The installation signals a commitment to providing sustainable heating solutions to customers.
The company has experienced year-on-year growth since its inception in 2001. It installed one of the UK’s first aerobic digesters and commissioning its own CHP biomass plant to produce renewable energy.
More than two decades later, it now manages the 360° life cycle of the tree from harvesting to replanting and offers full traceability and carbon tracking.
The business has seen significant growth in demand from domestic customers as well as commercial customers, especially in the poultry industry for heating purposes in the chicken sheds.
"This investment positions SDL Solutions to meet the rising demand for wood pellets as an environmentally responsible heating choice," said Sam Launchbury, CEO of SDL Solutions. "We believe the most reliable and environmentally friendly wood pellets are produced within and supplied to the UK, from responsibly managed forests, reducing the demand for imported wood pellets.”
SDL Solutions prioritises the use of wood materials from sustainably managed sources to minimise environmental impact.
