Following the launch of its fifth salon in Oxford in April, the award-winning Blushes Hair & Beauty is launching a six -month training programme, new multi-employment opportunities and new brand: The Blushes Collective.

The Blushes Collective has adapted the three-year training standard to create a new, six-month training programme. Launched in April 2021, students are now training five days a week, meaning they will qualify to the salon floor in less than a third of the time than rest of the UK. The reduced time to completion means The Blushes Academy can welcome individuals of any age, with any experience. One of the four students currently enrolled in the programme is held by someone who is 42 years of age and comes from a career in sales.

This will go some way to increasing the number of skilled hairdressers after the number of people starting hairdressing apprenticeships in England halved between 2016 and 2020. The National Hair and Beauty Federation expects another drop of 30 to 50 per cent in the coming year.

The Blushes Collective now offer hairdressers and beauty therapists the opportunity to be either employed or self-employed.

The development of The Blushes Collective is the brainchild of the new board of Directors to include Dominic Blake, Samantha Sibery and Georgia Faulkner.

Georgia Faulkner, Marketing Director, said: “As we grow, we’re determined to put people at the centre of the Blushes universe. The new ethos, strategies and career opportunities are reflective of a contemporary culture which meant the look and feel of the business had scope to evolve too. We’ve refreshed the brand and developed the logo to get rid of the bs (literally).”
