measurable.energy, a Berkshire business makes AI-powered plug sockets to reduce electricity costs and carbon emissions in offices, has secured a £4 million investment.

The funding will help accelerate the company’s growth in the UK and abroad – especially in Southeast Asia – ahead of its anticipated series B fundraise in 2025.

This latest round was co-led by Vertex Exploratory Fund, an arm of Vertex Holdings, alongside existing investor Clean Growth Fund, a clean tech venture capital firm.

Other participants included existing investors Bonheur ASA/Fred Olsen, RO Capital Partners, Vectr7, and Roger Ferguson, a former economic adviser to Barack Obama and onetime vice-chair of the US Federal Reserve.

Roger, who sits on the Board of Alphabet Inc., first invested in measurable.energy last year and is supporting its expansion in the US.

measurable.energy offers customers a smart plug socket equipped with proprietary hardware and AI-driven software to tackle the significant energy drain from small devices —appliances that remain plugged in and running even when they’re not in use.

In offices, plug power accounts for up to 40 per cent of total electricity usage, and around half of it gets wasted.

The company’s main business lies within the construction and commercial real estate sectors, with growing demand from the public sector, hospitality, university campuses and NHS hospitals.

It’s signed major deals with Balfour Beatty Vinci, Morgan Sindall and PKF Francis Clark.

Jonathan Tudor, investment partner at Clean Growth Fund, said: “We’ve been delighted with measurable.energy’s growth over the past 18 months.

“With the support of CGF, Vertex and their other investors, the company is in a strong position to win business overseas.

“measurable.energy isn’t just another player in the energy efficiency space.

“The combination of its advanced hardware and AI software represents a significant leap forward in energy management technology.

“In today’s tech-driven world, where every watt of energy saved can contribute to a more sustainable future, measurable.energy is leading the charge.”

Shang-Wei Chow, managing director, investment at Vertex Exploratory Fund, is set to join the board as a director.

He said: “The Vertex Exploratory Fund actively seeks out disruptive frontier technologies, with climate as one of the core themes in our investment strategy.

“measurable.energy stood out as one of the most promising startups in the UK in the climate space, offering a low-touch, intuitive, and compliance-ready solution that effectively reduces power waste.

“The company is at the forefront of providing the tools necessary to drive positive change and the Vertex Exploratory Fund is proud to partner with them on this journey.”

Dan Williams, co-founder and CEO of measurable.energy, added: “We’re grateful for the continued support of our current investors and are excited to welcome Vertex as a new partner during this pivotal time in our growth journey.

“This investment reflects the confidence in our proven AI-powered technology, which has already made a real impact for businesses across the UK.

“As we look to the future, we’re excited to build on this momentum and pursue our ambitious goals to enhance energy efficiency on a global scale.

“This is an exciting time for our team, and we’re ready to lead the change in energy management.”
