Jiva, a sustainable materials business in Waterlooville, Hampshire, has enjoyed a busy start to the year.

The company has raised £245,206 through an oversubscribed online crowdfunder to drive development of Soluboard – the world’s first recyclable laminate for printed circuit boards (PCBs), a key component in electronic devices.

Following a rigorous audit, Jiva also recently achieved the prestigious ISO 9000:2015 accreditation – testament, says CEO Steve Driver, to “our team’s relentless commitment to quality, innovation, and operational excellence.

“This achievement sets a strong foundation for growth, enhancing trust and credibility with our partners and clients.

“Huge congratulations to the team for making this happen!”

These are just the headlines for a busy month at the company, which has also seen them meet with representatives from motor maker Daimler-Benz and Germany’s Wurth Electronics to explore integration of Jiva’s materials into their respective manufacturing processes.

Meanwhile, Jiva has welcomed two new team members –  quality manager Alan Green, who brings 57 years of experience in PCB manufacturing, and marketing and IT specialist Alina Costrasel.

“With Alan as the wise sage of the team and Alina as the youngest trailblazer ready to revolutionize our digital strategies, we now have the perfect blend of experience and youthful creativity,” Steve added.

“Together, they’re bound to keep us balanced – whether it’s ensuring top-notch quality or shaking things up with cutting-edge ideas.

“Welcome to the team, Alan and Alina – we’re thrilled to have you both on board.”

Last year, Jiva inked a knowledge transfer partnership with the University of Portsmouth to test natural fibres – such as jute, flax and hemp – for use as potential laminate materials.
