A Warwick technology company, which has expertise in wireless communications, is proving to be a world leader in its field after securing a series of global contracts.

Abicom International was founded by David Edwards in 2001 and moved into the University of Warwick Science Park’s Warwick Innovation Centre in 2015 and has set about achieving global growth.

The company’s projects include a CCTV initiative in India, connecting videoing technology over long distances and teaming up with the navy in the United States on long range communications.

Abicom is also working on video streaming technology that could have a huge impact on motorsports.

The firm has joined forces with a leading motorsport telematics provider to create a system that increases the efficiency of wireless technology, which improves communications and video streaming speed capacities at events.

The firm now offers a range of products and original equipment manufacturer services, from custom radio designs, hardware, fully integrated wireless networking equipment and full wireless protocol development.

David said: “Wireless technology has numerous applications and Abicom is always working to push the industry, and it’s about increasing wireless speeds and making sure that wireless technology delivers an outstanding experience for the end customer

“We have expertise in a number of areas including system analysis and design, signal processing, embedded system design and development and more.

“At the moment, we are working with clients throughout the world and it is great to see these projects developing and how we can strengthen Wi-Fi to apply it in so many different ways.”

Abicom’s expertise helps customers deliver high performance products targeting both mainstream and niche markets worldwide.

The company employs a small staff, with a strong focus on Wireless ISP-related and outdoor wireless equipment design, and delivers projects in more than 15 countries.

Jane Talbot, Centre Manager at the University of Warwick Science Park’s Innovation Centre, said: “It is fantastic to see David and Abicom thriving within global markets and, once again, it highlights that our region is knowledge capital of the UK.

“The company proves that with the right products, the right expertise and the right profile, that small businesses can go global and that the University of Warwick Science Park is the perfect place for technology companies such as Abicom to grow.

“As well as offering flexible space, there are also a host of support services available to companies here which can serve them in their growth aspirations.”
