Work is underway at Worcester Six Business Park on a new unit for national foodservice wholesaler Bidfood.

Commercial property developer, Stoford is delivering the bespoke unit, which comprises 62,431 sq ft of floor space, plus ancillary offices. Glencar Construction has been appointed main contractor.

The facility, Bidfood’s first in the region, is the business's 28th depot across its national network. It will include a cold store, and bespoke features to suit Bidfood’s specific requirements.

Construction works are in progress, and the steel structure has been installed. The project is programmed for completion in Q3 2024.

Edward Peel, Director at Stoford said: “It’s great to see the progress of works at Worcester Six which reflects continued growth for the scheme. We’ve collaborated with Bidfood to design a bespoke space that meets their needs, so it’s really positive to start seeing the project come to life. We look forward to welcoming the business to the site.”

Claire Cox, Head of Property at Bidfood said: “Bidfood are excited to be expanding into the area and we look forward to our new facility being operational.”

Ian Edwards, Director of Economy and Environment at Wychavon District Council said: “Bidfood’s investment is a massive sign of confidence in Wychavon as a place to do business and they will be a welcome addition to the many other leading national, and multinational, companies, trading from Worcester 6.”

Councillor Adam Kent, Worcestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills, said: "Bringing hundreds of new jobs to Worcester is fantastic for our local economy. The addition of Bidfood's new facility at Worcester Six Business Park highlights the area's growing appeal as a hub for major businesses. This development not only provides significant employment opportunities for our residents but also reinforces Worcestershire's position as a prime location for investment and growth. We are committed to fostering an environment where businesses can thrive, and this project is a testament to the collaborative efforts between the council, developers, and Bidfood. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this will have on our community and local economy."

Worcester Six has welcomed Alliance Flooring Distribution, IONOS, ZwickRoell, Sierra Engineering, Siemens, Spire Healthcare, Kimal, Super Smart Service, Stop Start Logistics and Kohler Mira. More recently, Stoford commenced phase two infrastructure works which will facilitate the development of the southern extension of the site, unlocking more than 60 acres of land.

The property developer has also secured what is believed to be the largest pre-sale in Worcestershire, for a new 278,048 sq ft manufacturing facility for MiTek. If plans are approved, MiTek will acquire the freehold to the building upon its completion, and the facility will become business’ EMEA headquarters, serving its businesses in the UK, France, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Czech Republic, Sweden, Norway, Finland and South Africa.
