Shepherd Neame reopens Bromley pub following £330k refurb
Independent family brewer Shepherd Neame has reopened its traditional Bromley town centre pub, The Bricklayers Arms, after it underwent a £330,000 refurbishment.
The pub, affectionately known as ‘The Bricks’ by locals, closed last month for the renovation, which has kept the historic building’s original features and character while introducing a contemporary feel.
Works have included the installation of a new bar, furniture and lighting, with a bespoke swing sign outside and an improved courtyard garden.
There’s also a special nod to the pub’s history, which dates back to 1851, as original brick tiling unearthed during the renovation has been restored and made into a feature on the exterior.
Jonathon Swaine, managing director for pubs at Shepherd Neame, said: “We place a high value on just how popular The Bricks is with its regulars and the people of Bromley, and we wanted to make sure it was a pub for them to be proud of.
“We believe we’ve created a warm and welcoming feel and improved The Bricklayers Arms in a sympathetic way to ensure it continues to be enjoyed by locals and visitors for many years to come.”
