Persimmon allocates 59 homes for locals at Didcot development

Persimmon Homes Wessex is set to build 59 new homes reserved for local people at its Valley Park development in Didcot.
The arrangement represents a partnership with CBRE Investment Management, Pinnacle Group, Airey Miller and Vale of White Horse District Council.
Valley Park will ultimately comprise 4,254 homes, as well as two primary schools, an SEN school, local centres and sports facilities.
Developers Persimmon and Taylor Wimpey have just secured planning approval for the first primary school, which also includes a nursery and community-use spaces.
Seb Spiller, deputy managing director for Persimmon Homes Wessex, said: “We’re delighted to have finalised our agreement to deliver homes for a local housing association at Valley Park.
“This development is a major one that will benefit thousands of families in Oxfordshire, and the significant proportion of it that will be reserved for housing associations is a core part of our mission to leave a positive and lasting legacy where we build.
“Persimmon looks forward to building on our partnership with Pinnacle at Valley Park.”
Cllr Diana Lugova, cabinet member for planning at Vale of White Horse District Council, added: “These modern homes at Valley Park, built with sustainability in mind, will make a key contribution to improving the availability of housing in the Vale.
“We know this is an important topic for our residents, and it’s a huge priority for us.”
The news comes as chancellor Rachel Reeves pledges ‘bold reform’ to the planning system, cutting red tape for infrastructure projects and unveiling plans for more houses near commuter train stations.
