A new Your Co-op Food store has opened its doors in Twigworth near Gloucester, in a development brought forward by Robert Hitchins Ltd.

The 4,000 sq ft convenience store has created 20 local jobs and offers essential grocery items from fruit and vegetables and fresh meat to a range of wines, spirits and chilled beers.

It is also home to an in-store bakery, an ATM, National Lottery and PayPoint terminals, a Hermes ParcelShop, and a chilled food-to-go range.

Your Co-op is part of The Midcounties Co-operative, one of the largest independent UK co-operatives, and fully owned by its members.

The new store has been built with an investment of more than £500,000 is part Midcounties’ ongoing investment in food retail. The Society invested more than £3.5 million in opening seven new stores in 2021 and has committed to further £5 million and ten new store openings planned this year.

Sharon Williams, store manager, said: “We’re so excited to be opening the doors of our brand-new convenience store and can’t wait to meet the local community.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming members and customers and I’m sure they’ll be impressed with the wide range of products and services we have on offer.”

The new store on the A38 north of Gloucester sits at the entrance to the new Twigworth Green development being brought forward by Robert Hitchins Ltd which includes 725 new homes.

Michael Plimmer, property developer at Robert Hitchins Ltd, said: “We are delighted to welcome the new Your Co-op store to the development at Twigworth Green. We know the new store will form an important part of the local community and we wish the team every success.”
