Grade I Listed Aynhoe Park set for restoration and conversion works in 2021
Aynhoe Park, the Grade I Listed 17th Century Country House rebuilt after the English Civil War in Oxfordshire is set for restoration and conversion works after being sold by its exuberant former owner James Perkins to an anonymous buyer late last year.
Originally built in 1615, this stunning Country House it is about to undergo restoration and conversion works by Oxford-based Savvy Construction. The Phase One works include a single storey kitchen extension with new gas services, conversion of the existing orangery into a restaurant, refurbishment of the adjacent lounge, customer WC’s, alterations to the existing bedrooms and conversion of the existing ‘workshop’ into new staff areas.
Before the sale, Aynhoe Park famously held a cornucopia of funky and off-beat items, from giant glitter balls, taxidermied mammals to ancient artefacts. All of which provided a suitably unique backdrop to celebrity parties. According to reports, James – who bought the house fifteen years ago, wants to start all over again and is off to renovate another house in Somerset. Many of the wonderfully quirky items were sold in auction last year.
With new owners comes a new era for this amazing house.
The Savvy team will start on site in February 2021 and the construction period will be 20 weeks. They will be working with the client’s professional team consisting of a Savills Project Manager, DHA Architect, Price & Meyers Structural Engineer, Elementa Services Engineer and Graham Hale & Co Quantity Surveyors.
Earlier this month Savvy announced that the company have been shortlisted for the Oxford Preservation Trust (OPT) awards 2020, for the outstanding work carried out at the stunning Grade II Listed Belsyre Court in Oxford.
