Council seeks approval for 184 homes in Staines

Spelthorne Borough Council has submitted a planning application for 184 new homes in Staines, Surrey.
The application, which was prepared by Lichfields on behalf of the council, would also see a new NHS health and wellbeing centre alongside the dwellings at the Oast House and Kingston Road car park site.
Bell Phillips Architects drew up designs as part of the application.
The development would consist of three, 12-storey high residential buildings including balcony space. All the properties would be classed as affordable rental properties.

It will also feature a creative arts and business incubator, cultural facility and community space, transforming the site which has been derelict for the past 15 years.
Councillor Maureen Attewell, chair of the community wellbeing and housing committee, said: “The Council has undertaken much research on how best to develop the Oast House site, including a consultation and public exhibition in the summer and we believe that this development will benefit our residents.
“This mixed-use development delivers a wide range of important regeneration, community benefits and crucial affordable homes for local people.”
