Contractor appointed for mid-box Greenlight Redditch scheme

Greenlight Urban has appointed local contractor Benniman for the redevelopment of a former manufacturing complex in Redditch.
Full planning permission has been granted by Redditch Borough Council for the site near the A4023 Coventry Highway, with construction due to begin in the next few weeks.
Plans are to partially demolish the existing buildings at Greenlight Redditch and make way for four new industrial/distribution units.
These units will range from 10,000 and 67,475 sq ft for a total span of 126,715 sq ft.
They’ll each target BREEAM Outstanding ratings and EPC A+ ratings for sustainability, with features including rainwater harvesting, solar panels, EV chargers and air source heat pumps.
Units 1 and 3 will also include office and balcony space for employees – a unique feature in the UK industrial market.
Existing tenant Honeywell will remain operational at its 61,800 sq ft facility on site – which is also set to be refurbished – while works take place.
Greenlight Urban is a logistics joint venture between Coltham and Delancey Real Estate.
Mark Enderby, director of development at Delancey, said: “Greenlight Urban is leading the way in developing outstanding, mid-box assets with first class ESG credentials.
“We’re delighted that Honeywell has recognised this by remaining on the site to be part of Greenlight Redditch.
“We look forward to welcoming more exciting occupiers to Greenlight Redditch to take advantage of the prime location and best-in-class space.”
Stuart Franks, partner at Coltham, added: “Greenlight Redditch will provide outstanding mid-box industrial space to the West Midlands.
“The new units have been designed to help occupiers reduce their operating costs and provide a better operating experience for their staff and customers.”
Greenlight Redditch is advised by JLL, Savills and CBRE.
