John Truslove Ignis Group - Terry O'Neill and John Macklin on Ignis Group with Ian Parker of John Truslove

Two businessmen who started their venture in a shared office space with a second-hand van, have seen their company Ignis Group outgrow a string of premises before securing their own base in a £500,000 property deal sealed with the aid of property agents John Truslove.

Terry O’Neill and John Mackin established Ignis Group Ltd seven years ago and have seen phenomenal growth and success over recent years, transforming the company into a multimillion pound turnover business and one of the leading mechanical contractors in the Midlands.

The business now employs more than 25 staff and maintains more than 1,000 commercial buildings throughout the Midlands and surrounding counties, carrying out service, maintenance and installation of commercial heating and hot water systems. With its robust supply chain, the company now provides a full turnkey building services solution.

The team at John Truslove helped the firm find its last base, in Studley, Warwickshire, but only two years into a proposed five year lease, the continued growth has forced yet another relocation, this time securing their own premises which will cement the business in the Midlands and form the solid foundations to support their future ambitions.

Terry O’Neill explained: “We had been looking for somewhere suitable in the Bromsgrove area for about three years. We needed a dual-purpose facility and somewhere large enough to keep up with the sheer pace of growth in the business.”

Working with Ian Parker, joint managing director at John Truslove, Terry and John have now acquired the offices and workshop at 4 at Warwick Court, on the Saxon Business Park in Stoke Prior, near Bromsgrove.

The £500,000 investment, along with significant internal modifications and upgrades, provides the company with a two-storey headquarters, with workshop and stores on the ground floor and premium office space above.

Terry added: “We have a programme of growth for the next five years, with a need for these premises to be adequate to support the next stage of growth for the business.

The Redditch-based business partners have built on decades of experience in the industry and established an impressive portfolio of clients, with a clear focus on the education sector, currently maintaining more than 200 schools across the Midlands and a number of higher education facilities and universities.

The company also supports a wide range of sectors including healthcare, leisure, manufacturing, government and local authorities with several blue-chip clients including Premiership football clubs.

Ignis Group has been appointed as Birmingham City Football Club’s mechanical contractor, responsible for gas infrastructure compliance and maintenance of all heating and hot water services at the St Andrews stadium and Wast Hills training ground.

They were also recently appointed main contractor for the overhaul of the existing heating system at St Andrews, part of the ongoing multimillion-pound refurbishment at the club.

Ian Parker, joint managing director at commercial property agents John Truslove, said: “Terry and John have created a hugely successful, ambitious and growing company that needed to acquire its own headquarters to cement its future."
