Canterbury's APX Architecture designs 2,500 development in Sittingbourne
Swale Borough Council are set to review plans for new 2,500 home development in Sittingbourne, having validated the proposals at the end of November.
The plans have been designed by Canterbury-based APX Architecture, which was appointed to develop a masterplan and framework for the site, dubbed Foxchurch, by Hertfordshire-based Appin Land Ltd.
The development would feature a mix of house types and tenures, along with a new primary school and community centre. The scheme also features a business park, which could bring approximately 850 jobs to the area.
If accepted, the homes would be delivered over 11 phases of development, with each creating around 200 homes. Starting in the first phase with new shops and around 262 homes, the final phase would focus on public transport links and a connected play space.

As quoted by Kent Online, the application summarises: "The proposed development will fulfil the vision for this new urban extension to Sittingbourne and will achieve the optimum balance of uses for the sustainable community at Foxchurch. It will create an exciting residential area, in what is already recognised as a desirable place to live.
"It is supported by a new high quality business park, excellent wide ranging new and existing amenities, and access to public transport. It will reconcile the constraints and opportunities presented, and offer a solution that can be seen to maximise the potential of Foxchurch.
"The proposals are entirely suitable for the site in terms of land use, amount of development, access, layout and appearance. It represents the next logical and sustainable stage in the long history of the development of the area.
"Ultimately Foxchurch will become a vibrant new part of the area that can have a transforming effect on the locality, improving its infrastructure and facilities, as well as adding wider benefits to the district."
